Welcome to Our School
Welcome to Aurora Montessori School in Aurora, IL. My name is Lisa and I am the Head of School. I have been here since 2000, initially as a Montessori Certified Primary teacher and later assisting to develop our current Toddler program.
Since our school first opened in 1999, thousands of children from the Aurora/Naperville and surrounding communities have graduated from our program. We will be celebrating 25 years in 2024, and we are proud to continue to offer a premiere, authentic Montessori experience as well as amazing before and after school daycare for students of Aurora Montessori School!
Programs are available for children ages 18 months - Kindergarten. Montessori-certified teachers observe and offer guidance while children build their cognitive and creative abilities. We are also members of the Association of Illinois Montessori Schools.
Our beautiful STEAM Studio (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math) continues to be a favorite place for students to visit each day! The STEAM Studio has been outfitted with tools to offer wider and deeper academic exploration.
We're pleased to offer our families access to "Watch Me Grow" that allows parents to view their child in the classroom via secure, real-time cameras. Montessori Compass, our online parent communication tool enables parents to receive daily updates about their child's school experiences and communicate with their teacher.

Our authentic Montessori experience is enhanced by a STEAM Studio.
Featuring hands-on learning stations for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math, the studio is available to Primary program students at least once a week.
- Science lab equipment will include items such as salt, vinegar, popsicle sticks, glue, clay, straws, etc., for children to perform simple experiments
- Technology learning experiences will be highlighted by tablets and educational apps
- Art studio activities will incorporate natural elements (such as leaves) and will feature various modes of art; for example, pendulum painting

Having always known education was my true passion, I followed my heart and first joined Aurora Montessori School as a primary teacher. Currently, I am honored to lead a wonderful, dedicated staff that help make our school a very special place! My husband and I, proud parents of two AMS graduates, live in Aurora with our beautiful Golden Retriever, Bear!

I was lucky enough to discover the Montessori method while in high school by working with the after-school program. I have a passion for teaching and learning, and truly believe the Montessori classroom offers a warm and enriching environment for children to develop. I live in Yorkville with my husband and daughter, Josie - a current Aurora Montessori School student!
