Empowering Teachers with Mindful Practices

We appreciate your continued partnership as we support the professional development of our beloved educator teams. Our company-wide Teacher In-Service Day is an important aspect of the care we provide to every member of our school community. The day offers comprehensive training, tools, and instruction for all teachers and staff.

The session we held on February 17, 2025, provided your child’s teachers with resources centered around mindfulness and how to respond to challenges in the classroom with curiosity and compassion. The day also included interactive elements and games to encourage fun, collaborative connections. Important topics we focused on included promoting developmentally appropriate practices, cybersecurity, and overall safety in our schools.

Teachers and staff had the opportunity to grow their critical thinking skills and strengthen positive interactions among peers and students. We also discussed the importance of creating psychologically safe environments that benefit every member of our school community.

Our teachers concentrated on three key areas:

• Establishing Teacher Credibility
  Keynote speaker, Dr. Kateri Thunder, conducted two sessions. The Power of Credibility was all about establishing confidence and consistency with families. Teachers explored their core values as educators and the four characteristics of achieving credibility: trust, competency, dynamism, and immediacy. The Powerful Communication for All highlighted the continued importance of building good communication practices using collaboration, active listening, and a willingness to learn during each exchange. 
  
  
• Supporting Positive Behaviors
  The first session on Critically Thinking About Positive Behavior Support focused on the variety of tools teachers have access to that can be utilized to help them support and reinforce positive behavior in the classroom. The second session centered on Reframing and Responding to children’s behaviors. Teachers use helpful strategies to react to situations with care and compassion while redirecting children to act in positive ways.
  
  
• Enhancing Family Interactions
  Forming trusting partnerships with each family is an essential part of every child’s journey to learn and grow with success. Our final session of the day was about handling such interactions with care and respect, giving teachers the tools they need to respond effectively to sensitive conversations.
